Welcome to The Hardinge Arms
The Hardinge Arms is located in the historic village of King’s Newton, on the outskirts of Melbourne, in South Derbyshire.
Formerly a 16th century farmhouse, the Hardinge Arms developed from an 1800’s beerhouse to a pub at the beginning of the 20th Century.
Famed for the cultivation of the ‘Newton Wonder’ apple, an apple tree still exists on site, providing shade for one of the outdoor seating areas.
A warm welcome awaits, whether you are popping in for a drink, dining with us, or staying in one of our homely en-suite rooms in the converted farm buildings. Our local customers provide friendly conversation & we all make a fuss of canine companions. The inglenook fireplace provides cosy warmth on cold days.

The Hardinge Arms is conveniently located for Donington Park racetrack, East Midlands airport and local attractions such as Calke Abbey, Melbourne Hall & the Staunton Harold Estate.
The larger towns & cities of Derby, Burton on Trent, Loughborough & Nottingham are all within 20 miles. This makes the Hardinge Arms an ideal base to visit the East Midlands, whether for business or leisure.
Our six en-suite guest rooms provide a variety of accommodation – twin, double & family rooms are available. There is parking by the accommodation for convenience & each room has it’s own entrance, so you can come & go as you please.

Check-out is by 10am daily.
Dogs are welcome to stay at the Hardinge Arms. There is a surcharge of £10pn per room. Please contact us in advance to confirm.
Rooms 1 & 2 are set with a double and single bed. There is the option to set a chair bed in each room for £20pn to make 3 separate beds/4 sleeping spaces.
Room 3 is a twin room. There is the option to add a guest bed for £20pn to make a triple room.
Room 4 & 6 are double rooms. There is no availability for an extra bed.
Room 5 is set with a double and single bed. There is no availability for an extra bed.
Breakfast is available to purchase separately & is to be pre-ordered the day before for a time 7:30-9am. The options are:
– Full English* – 2x bacon, 1x sausage, 1x hash brown, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, egg (fried, poached or scrambled), optional black pudding and toast.
– Smaller hot breakfast* – components listed above in a smaller way of your choice. For example, a mini fry-up, eggs on toast, a bacon sandwich etc.
– Cereal & toast with preserves.
*Meat free sausages can be substituted.
We have options for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets. We will do our best to accommodate allergen needs but we cannot guarantee an allergen free environment, please contact us for specific information.
