The Hardinge Arms is an historic building in the affluent South Derbyshire village of Kings Newton. Dating back to the 16th Century, The Hardinge Arms is the home of the famous Newton Wonder apple. A rosy-red cooking apple, which was also sweet enough to eat after being stored for a few months. The Newton Wonder was traditionally used in mincemeat and stuffing for turkey at Christmas. William Taylor, the then landlord cultivated it at the rear of the pub (once an orchard) from a seedling.

Following a major and meticulous restoration involving the local conservation officer, The Hardinge Arms has been acquired by it’s present owners David and Tracey Pearson ex head chef at the Riverside Hotel Ashford in the Water, Derbyshire.

David, Tracey and the team would like to give a warm welcome to walkers, families, bikers and all race goers. David is also a keen motor sport fan and has raced competitively over the last 15 years in a number of race series.

Kings Newton is quoted as 'a gem of an old English village with a great variety of well cared for old houses covering a wide age range, which all blend superbly together as a whole’. Kings Newton is contained within the Parish of Melbourne, South Derbyshire which became the centre for the supply of Fruit and Vegetables several centuries ago, this is still evident in the area today.

The M1 and M42 motorways are accessed within a 5 minute drive, as is Nottingham East Midlands Airport, Donington Race Track and Exhibition Centre and the Donington Grand Prix Collection.
